THE PURPLE PLAIN
Director Kim Albright, producer Chi Thai and actor Kate Braithwaite reveal the little-known story about the American women who tested for space flight.
In 1959, a handful of men were selected by NASA to be the first in space and were known as the Mercury 7. The second series of tests focused on 13 more pilots whose talents eclipsed those of the chosen 7. To date, the world knows little of these individuals because they were women.
This is the story of how close the Mercury 13 came to space, and their battle, not simply against their male peers, or even NASA, but the entire social system of the early 60s.
Introduced by one of London’s top casting directors, Shayra Dowling and director Emma Lindley.
Red River is a fictional drama focusing on the controversial subject of child marriage in the UK. 14 year old Muni meets her betrothed husband at her family home in London. Despite her parent’s wishes her discomfort is clear…..
ZULU 9 – introduced by actor Karen Bryson and director Alan Gilsenan
An Irish truck driver becomes concerned when he hears noises coming from the cargo container that he’s hauling. He notifies the police via radio and as they rush to investigate, the situation quickly escalates in a growing cycle of terror.
