Each year, Talkies Community Cinema invests in emerging talent by commissioning new short films.
Talkies’ commissions celebrate the diversity of interests, people and places in the suburbs of London. In the suburbs we aren’t the swanky super-rich, the celebrity glitterati or bearded hipsters. This is where the cinema creatives of London produce their best output. Here is where life is a rich diversity of race, religion and culture. The suburbs is where most of London lives.
Since starting out Talkies in 2012, we have commissioned 38 short films by emerging British talents, many of which have gone on to be screened at film festivals around the world!
