From highly acclaimed director Richard Linklater, this comedy-drama goes behind the scenes of the filming of Jean-Luc Godard’s first feature-length work, À bout de souffle (Breathless), released in 1960. Godard’s idiosyncratic and rule-breaking approach along with his addiction to “guerrilla filming” was utterly exasperating to many of those involved, but À bout de souffle is now considered to be a landmark of the French New Wave movement and one of the most influential films ever made.
Godard’s film was based on François Truffaut’s short outline, inspired by Michel Portail, a petty criminal who’d stolen a car, and his American journalist girlfriend Beverly Lynette, with Jean-Paul Belmondo and Jean Seberg in the leading roles.
