A BOY FROM SUBURBIA

WED 6 APRIL

Born in the suburbs of South London, David Bowie went on to influence generations of musicians.

Our Bowie night celebrates his life and work, starting with a live set from local musicians Julia, Alan and their friends. Be entertained and tested with a quiz about Bowie and the evening will premiere a very special film  “Should Be On By Now” by local filmmaker Artemis Szekir-Rigas .

THE FILM MAKER

Artemis is a final year filmmaking student and trainee steadicam operator

Born in Brazil, Artemis has lived in Palmers Green since she was three. She first felt the compulsion to make films aged 15, thanks to a free copy of Withnail and I that came with the papers one Christmas.

THE STORY

‘Should Be On By Now’ follows the band Absolute Bowie – hailed as Europe’s top David Bowie tribute band – as they travel up and down gigging across the UK. As much about the band as it is the loyal fans, ‘Should Be On By Now’ chronicles the impact of David Bowie’s music on both his fans and the musicians who are dedicated to keeping the live experience of his music open to everyone.
