There’s a wonderful warmth and playfulness in this collaboration between the filmmaker Agnès Varda and the photographer JR as they take a road trip through agricultural and industrial towns in France, talking to people and taking their pictures. JR’s van is equipped with a printer that produces portraits big enough to cover the sides of barns, houses, apartment blocks and even a stack of shipping containers. The results are utterly spectacular and often very moving.
