RETURN TO SEOUL

As well as directing the film, Franco-Cambodian filmmaker Davy Chou co-wrote the screenplay with his friend, the artist Laure Badufle, a Korean adoptee brought up in France, whose personal story inspired the film.  Park Ji-min makes her terrific acting debut as Freddie in a role that, as with Badufle, mirrors her own life.  Freddie, smart, stylish, with a talent for seduction and disruption, moves like a whirlwind through people’s lives.  But will she ever fully understand or come to terms with her own identity?
