Unsurprisingly, considering Haneke’s classic themes, this is a gripping and inspired soap opera of lost souls, presented with his usual masterly compositional flair and drawing wonderful performances from a top cast, including, Isabelle Huppert, Jean-Louis Trintignant, Mathieu Kassovitz and Toby Jones.
