SYNOPSIS
Khadar Ahmed is a Finnish-Somali director and writer. He was born in Mogadishu, Somalia and moved with his family to Finland as refugees at the age of 16. This is his first feature film for which he also wrote the screenplay, inspired by events in his own family. It centres around Guled, a gravedigger, who lives in Djibouti with his wife, Nasra, and son, Mahad, and shows the lengths a man will go to for the people he loves. It was selected as the Somali entry for the Best International Feature Film at the 94th Academy awards in 2022, the first time that Somalia had submitted a film.
