Friends visit BAFTA at 70

Lots of obscure and not so obscure facts and photos were shared by our BAFTA ‘host’ with the group of Friends and Volunteers who visited on 30th April. Did you know, for instance, that the first BAFTA Awards were Henry Moore sculptures that were too heavy to carry and couldn’t be taken home, so winners had to content themselves with a certificate. Most of those 12 sculptures are now missing so it may be time to check your attics and lofts!

Our host, Sophia, talked us through BAFTA’s 70 year history and the display that is currently on show for the anniversary. Interesting and impressive. There are also some screening of iconic British films. Anyone can visit, so check out the information on: https://heritage.bafta.org/ . You can also sign up for the newsletter there.
