Directed by Oliver Nakache and Éric Toledano, this charming, uplifting French drama, an irreverent and humorous take on culture-clash and disability, is based on a true story. It focuses on a superficially mismatched friendship between a wealthy quadriplegic and his ex-con carer – brilliantly played by François Cluzet and Omar Sy. Each has his own disadvantage – one physical following a paragliding accident, the other socioeconomic. Both characters are enormously sympathetic and the film’s heart is very much in the right place. Hugely enjoyable.
